Our Vision

The vision of Gosford Wyoming Uniting Church is to be a welcoming Church in the city that:

Reflects and shares God's love for all people

Promotes growth in Christian faith and discipleship

Cares for and serves its members and the wider community

We acknowledge the Darkinjung/Guringai people as the traditional owners of the land upon which our church is built

Meet The Team

Everyone is welcome. Our two churches are disabled access friendly and have audio loops for the hearing impaired.

“Stop looking for the perfect church. Instead, go worship the perfect God with a congregation of flawed people who need grace just as much as you do.”

Pastor

Gray Knight

Pastor Gray Knight was initially involved in a church-based ministry to 18–30’s, that operated Bible teaching camps and missional activities throughout Europe. He worked full time in this capacity for 7 years.

After emigrating to Australia from the UK, he graduated from Wesley Institute, Sydney in 2011 with an Undergraduate Degree in Theology. He was a Connect Group Pastor in Victory Community Christian Church until 2013. In 2015, he graduated from University of Technology Sydney (UTS) with a Master of Education (Adult), majoring in Later Life and Lifelong Learning. His most recent ministries have included starting a House Church in Northwestern Sydney and as a Connect Group Pastor on the Central Coast. Both ministries were deliberately focused on being a church for those Christians that needed to be repaired, restored and revived, in the spiritual sense.

Gray believes that what you have in your hand should be used to fulfil that which is in your heart. The call on his life has always been to teach the Word of God and to show people how to live it. He passionately believes that the Church is the hope of the world; his wide range of life and ministry experiences, enable him to fulfill that calling here at Gosford Wyoming Uniting Church.

Presbytery Central Hub New Growth Minister

Rev Sunil Baek

Rev. Sunil Baek is the Central Hub New Growth Minister for Sydney Central Coast Presbytery in the Uniting Church in Australia. The New Growth Minister’ role is to build up and grow the local church community at Gosford Wyoming UC into a thriving congregation, including multicultural all age ministry. In particular, Sunil is developing and expanding Family Ministry across the hub with a focus on reaching out to families who are new to Australia, and others who are moving into the area.

Sunil started in ordained ministry at Gosford Wyoming Uniting Church in 2021, and previously, practiced leadership at OneHeart faith community, Belfield Uniting Church. He was born and grew up in South Korea and completed a Bachelor of Theology at the Sydney College of Divinity in 2004 and is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at Charles Sturt University. He was formed for ministry at the United Theological College, North Parramatta, completed formation in 2018, then served in Blacktown UC, Wesley Mission and Parramatta Mission as a student minister.

Sunil was ordained as a Minister of the Word in 2021 and moved with his wife Jiwon to the Central Coast in response to his call to placement as New Growth Minister in Gosford Wyoming Uniting Church. Their two daughters were born in Gosford and it’s here that he has developed his love for Central Coast in NSW.

Sunil sees this time as an opportunity for us to experience growing together as he plants seeds, and members of our congregation water them, but it is God who will give us the growth and who is deeply loving and caring for us.

What We Believe

We are part of the Uniting Church in Australia. The Uniting Church confidently believes that through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God brings us into a right relationship with Him, whereby in faith we can:
  • Live in a close, loving, personal, dynamic relationship with the living God
  • Receive God’s gifts so that life can be what God means it to be – loving, purposeful, joyful, eternal
  • Participate in a worshipping, caring and serving community of Christians
  • Tell others of this good news and live it out in acts of compassion, service and justice in the community

As a people journeying together we affirm our calling under God:

  • to preach Christ the crucified and risen one and confess him as Lord;
  • to bear witness to the unity of faith and life in Christ, rising above cultural, economic, national and racial boundaries;
  • to engage in fearless prophetic ministry in relation to social evils which deny God’s active will for justice and peace;
  • to act with God alongside the oppressed, the hurt and the poor;
  • to accept responsibility for the wise use and conservation of the finite resources of this earth for the benefit of all;
  • to recognise, treasure and use the gifts of the Spirit given to all God’s people for ministering; and
  • to live in a creative, adventurous life of faith, characterised by openness, flexibility, hope and joy.
